WE LOOK FOR JOBS, BUT STILL HAVE FUN

We at Marin Professionals are a community of people in the professional, managerial and technical sectors of employment who happen to be in career transition or are simply looking for that next good job. Together we share our experience, expertise and resources with each other, and provide mutual support and encouragement in the search for success.

The organization has the feel of a friendly club because we operate it ourselves, with the help of state-funded staff and office space. There are no dues or financial obligations, but we are expected to contribute a small portion of our time to the organization.

Volunteers find that the hours they donate pay off in networking opportunities with others from diverse fields. We have a high rate of placement in satisfying and financially rewarding jobs, which reflects well on our approach to the job search.

FREE FIVE-DAY WORKSHOP IS VALUABLE

One of our members told a newspaper reporter, after going through our five-day workshop, that if she could have found the same training at a private job-search business, it would have cost at least a few hundred dollars. But for Marin Professionals members, it's free, as are all our services.

Veteran members who went through the workshop are the teachers. They pass on skills and information within a well-organized program format that provides members with emotional confidence and a strong job-search focus.

The workshop assists people with such things as:

  • Developing a job search strategy.
  • Discovering new job skills.
  • Tailoring resumes and cover letters to fit job openings.
  • Learning and practicing new interviewing skills.

MEMBERS ENJOY GETTING INVOLVED

After the five-day workshop, members can continue to use the facilities and the networking and job search benefits of member contact. They remain members by contributing to the organization in one of several ways. They do administrative duties, teach workshops, line up outside speakers for general meetings held twice monthly.

Members who contribute to this web page or put out our monthly newsletter get the bonus of learning new skills or brushing up on old ones.

Professionals in computer-related industries help members with the organization's computers. The equipment is available for members to print resumes and search the internet for job leads. Notices of job openings also come in daily to Marin Professionals from businesses and non-profit organizations in the county and throughout the Bay Area.
